Who Can Apply
You may be eligible if you:
- Are 19–25 years old
- Are referred by WorkBC
- Are eligible through EI, BCEA, PWD or non-PWD assistance
- Are interested in working as a prep cook or kitchen helper
- Can attend a full-time, Monday-Friday, 3:00pm – 8:30pm
- Address: 3690 Vanness Avenue, Vancouver (near Skytrain)
The program prioritizes youth at risk and also welcomes Indigenous youth, immigrants, persons with disabilities and survivors of violence.
What You Will Learn
- Basic food preparation and knife skills
- Hot and cold cooking methods
- Kitchen safety, cleaning and sanitation
- Food storage and handling
- Teamwork and workplace skills
- 3-week supervised work experience at the end of the program
