Who Can Apply

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 19–25 years old
  • Are referred by WorkBC
  • Are eligible through EI, BCEA, PWD or non-PWD assistance
  • Are interested in working as a prep cook or kitchen helper
  • Can attend a full-time, Monday-Friday, 3:00pm – 8:30pm
  • Address: 3690 Vanness Avenue, Vancouver (near Skytrain)

The program prioritizes youth at risk and also welcomes Indigenous youth, immigrants, persons with disabilities and survivors of violence.

What You Will Learn

  • Basic food preparation and knife skills
  • Hot and cold cooking methods
  • Kitchen safety, cleaning and sanitation
  • Food storage and handling
  • Teamwork and workplace skills
  • 3-week supervised work experience at the end of the program
