Throughout the month of December, 2018, the staff at Vancouver’s Hyperwallet, a PayPal service, raised $15,189.70 for Dan’s Legacy. The funds will go towards the charity’s counselling and life-skills intervention programs for at-risk youth.
“We’re completely blown away by the generosity of the team at Hyperwallet,” said Barbara Coates, Dan’s Legacy’s executive director. “They truly understand the meaning of philanthropy and pulled out all the stops for us. We are so grateful for their support.”
The staff at Hyperwallet regularly conduct fundraisers for charitable organizations, but this campaign exceeded their goal and set a new record. The funds were raised through a variety of events including bake sales, 50/50 draws, and a chili cook-off.
“Giving back to the local community is something we’re very passionate about at Hyperwallet,” said Rochelle Holmes, Hyperwallet’s giving committee co-chair. “The mental health programs and addiction services funded by Dan’s Legacy provide much-needed assistance to at-risk youth throughout the Lower Mainland. We’re honoured that our donation will help support this important organization.”
Dan’s Legacy provides its counselling programs to private clients, but also in partnership with other community-based organizations offering wrap-around services to at-risk youth. As these organizations match Dan’s Legacy’s fees, the value of the donation doubles to over $30,000, which will support 30 youth.
