Pride Month 2024: Reflecting On Our Commitment to the LGBTQ2S+ Community

As you may know, June is Pride month. It’s a month to celebrate and highlight the LGBTQ2S+ community, and we’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and continue to do to help the many LGBTQ2S+ clients that reach out to us for support.

In fact, 30% of our clients identify as belonging to the LGBTQ2S+ community, and we’re seeing more and more trans youth each year. We recently wrote about our continued efforts in this space here.

We also recently shared that the staff have been doing their part to develop competency to better serve our LGBTQ2S+ clients. We had some wonderful support from Qmunity who came into the office and delivered a workshop to all members of staff. You can read more about that here.

Over the years, we have provided specialized programming including our Queer Femme drop-in art therapy workshops and the Trans Extravaganza that we held in January 2020; our hope is to host more events like this in the future.

We’re committed to ensuring that Dan’s Legacy continues to be a safe and welcoming space. We strive to ensure our staff and members on our board reflect the diversity of our clients, and we encourage all queer youth who are seeking counselling, wrap-around and/or job-skills training support to contact us today.
